The Scheme of the Examination is conducted in three tiers
- 1st Tier A - Preliminary (Written) Examination (Objective Type)
- 2nd Tier B- Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type)
- 3rd Tier C- Skill Test (Typing Test or the Stenography Test)
Combined Matric Level Preliminary Examination This Examination, as a part of 1
st Tier, would be common for all the three categories of posts as under. There
is one paper having two parts-
General Intelligence and General Awareness, each having 100 questions-each question carrying one mark. The duration of Examination is 2 hours.
Main Examination
The main examination, as a part of 2nd Tier, will be of descriptive type.

Both the Papers (except Part A of Paper I) are set in Hindi and English languages. However, candidates have the option to write answers for questions of Part B (General Studies) of Paper I and Paper II (Essay) in English or any of the languages mentioned in 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India.
