The Indian Air Force offers jobs for Airmen in the Technical (Intermediate) Trades
(Group 'X') to unmarried male Indian citizens (subjects of Nepal are also eligible).
Educational Qualifications Intermediate/10+2/equivalent examination with
Physics, Mathematics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. OR 3-year
Diploma in Engg. (Mechanical/ Electrical/Electronics/ Au tomobile/ Computer Science/
Instrumentation Technology) from a Govt. recognised Poly technic/ Institute.
Age Between 16 and 22 years.
Medical Standards
(a) Min, Height: 152.5 cms (b) Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm (c) Weight:
Corresponding to height and age. (d) Vision: Unaided 6/36, corrected with glass: 6/9
in each eye. Power limit up to ± 3.5 Dioptres. Colour Vision: CP-IlI. Corneal Su
rgery (PRK/LASIL) is not acceptable. (e) Hearing: Able to hear forced whisper at 600
cms. with each ear separately. (f) Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of
teeth dIld minimum l.Jo dental points. (g) General Health: Candidate should be free
from all communicable diseases. There should be no medical or surgical deformity.
Candidate must be physically and mentally fit for duty in any part of the world, in
any c1imate and terrain.
Selection Process
Written Test: Candidates are tested in English, Physics and Mathematics based on
CBSE Syllabus of XIIth standard. Question papers will be bilingual (English and
Hindi) and objective type.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Qualifying in the PFT is mandatory which consists of 1.6 km run to be completed in a maximum of 8 minutes.
Interview: Candidates who qualify in the written examination and Physical Fitness
Test are called for Interview. And, those who qualify in the interview are medically
examined by Air Force Medical Team.

which appears in the Employment News and other prominent national dailies from time
to time.
